Saturday, December 24 2022: We have twelve participants and 14 tracks! You can download the final jam in MP3 and in FLAC or play them here (all licenced as CC BY-SA 4.0):
Biiig thanks to all participants! It really was a blast, having such a big thing coming together and all the fun involved. The list of participants and their slots is as follows:
You can download the whole project file to approach the mix yourself. It is a Reaper project with the DrumGizmo plugin and the aasimonster drumkit.
This is the fourth iteration of a virtual non-realtime jam session. A backing track is provided and participants can record something to it. Even though rooted in the ##guitar channel on libera.chat, submission is not limited to guitars. Other instruments, synths or voice are equally happily accepted!
First step is downloading the Backing track. Listen to it, and think of an accompaniment. Or rather, how the backing track would accompany your playing. Once you decided what to accompany, record this and send it to me.
After the deadline of the 18th of December, 2022 I will collect the submissions and mix them sequentially into one big take. From your side, nothing more is required than your recording. See also the previous jams: the first jam by fendur, second jam by Mozart, third jam by aloo_shu
The backing track can be found in two formats: WAV and MP3. jprajzne made a video explaining the backing track. It was written, recorded and mixed by jprajzne, drums by gnrp with DrumGizmo and the aasimonster drumkit (CC-BY 4.0). It is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). The track runs at 72bpm and consists of one bar count-in and 16 bars as follows:
Bm Em A D Db (3x) Bm Em A D F#7 B E Am Dm Dbm (4x)
Record what you made up to accompany the backing track. The recording should run over the whole length of the backing track, including the count-in, but not include the backing track. Your track can include any amount of processing. Note however that some slight effects and of course EQing and mixing might be added once it is included in the overall mix.
Make sure to finish your submission till the 18.12.2022! Once you are done, contact gnrp on libera.chat to send it in and declare that it can be released under the CC BY-SA 4.0.
